Horse's hoof. From the horse that 2nd Lieutenant Victor Archibald Nye had shot from under him during the Boer War. He was left for dead and stripped of his cloth, whilst on patrol. Four troopers were also shot, along with Nye's horse. 2nd Lieutenant Victor Archibald Nye. 2nd Battalion, The Gloucestershire Regiment. South Africa 1900-1902.
