Group of four medals; Military Cross, 1914 Star with clasp, British War Medal, Allied Victory Medal with Mentioned in Despatches oakleaf on ribbon. Awarded to 2nd Lieutenant William Frederick Watkins, 1st Battalion, The Gloucestershire Regiment. 1914. Mounted together with medal ribbon bar, miniature medals, cap badges, button, gold wound strip, and fragment of shell which wounded 2nd Lieutenant Watkins on 15th September 1914. This Military Cross was the first one ever awarded to a soldier of the Gloucestershire Regiment.
